If you were all excited to book your next flight from Noida International Airport, then we have some news for you all. According to the latest news, the commencement of commercial flight operations from the airport will be delayed. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is likely to issue the aerodrome licence by April 30. Scroll on to know more about this.
First Flight From Noida International Airport Delayed
According to Hindustan Times, the Noida International Airport Limited announced that there will be yet another delay in the commencement of flights from the upcoming airport in Jewar. Earlier, commercial flights were scheduled to start on April 17, 2025. However, the Noida International Airport needs the aerodrome licence before it can begin commercial operations. As per the airport officials, the licence is unlikely to be processed before April 30.
Due to this delay, the flight operations at the airport will be pushed back again. A new date for the commencement of flights will be picked on March 10, after a review meeting chaired by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. Reportedly, this meeting is also likely to finalise details like flight schedules, number of flights, and the categories of services to be launched initially.
According to a press release by Noida International Airport authorities, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) is making progress with its work in the air traffic control tower, and construction of the passenger terminal and associated infrastructure is progressing well. They have submitted an application for the aerodrome license and are working closely with the aviation and security regulators to complete all necessary steps, including the publication of the Aerodrome Information Publication (AIP).

International Flight Operations To Be Delayed Further
Besides the pending DGCA license, Noida International Airport is also awaiting clearance from the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS). This is yet another essential step before flight operations can begin at the new airport. All these issues were discussed during a high-level meeting conducted by DGCA officials at the airport after a review of the overall progress of the project.
Also, reports suggest that international flight services may not commence on the first day of operations at the Noida International Airport. According to Hindustan Times, only domestic flights are expected to start that day. This is mainly because the upper floor of the terminal building which is designated for international passengers, is still under construction and lacks adequate passenger facilities.
