Lack of opportunities often makes women fall short in front of their male counterparts. What they need is independence and some skills to prove that they are as capable as everyone else. And Zomato’s new initiative is a step towards this. The food ordering platform launched a Women’s Riding Centre in Mumbai to empower women and here’s all you need to know about it.
Zomato Launches Women’s Riding Centre In Mumbai
Zomato and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) came together to launch a Women’s Riding Centre in Mumbai recently. This initiative facilitates two-wheeler riding training for women and the first centre was inaugurated in Mulund by Dr. Bhushan Gagrani, I.A.S., Municipal Commissioner, BMC. He also felicitated top-performing women delivery partners of Zomato in the city.
Through this initiative, Zomato aims to empower women by enhancing their mobility, enabling them to further their personal needs and unlock livelihood opportunities. By collaborating with national and local organisations with a strong on-ground presence like the BMC, Zomato will facilitate training for women who can benefit from lessons on riding two-wheeler Electric Vehicles (EVs) arranged by Zomato. In addition to riding skills, this initiative will train women in essential life skills like using a smartphone to navigate cities and strong communication abilities.

As per the press release, Zomato will facilitate these trainings via physical centres in various cities, including Mumbai and Ahmedabad, soon. The main aim of this initiative is to provide practical skills and a supportive learning environment for women.
Zomato hopes to provide a dedicated physical centre for women to meet, inquire, and seek guidance on working independently. They will also be providing guidance to explore and understand the available EV-bike options for interested participants.
This initiative is part of Zomato’s livelihood program for women breaking gender barriers and empowering women by providing them with the skills and opportunities needed to thrive in the logistics sector. Their goal is to facilitate the training of 10,000 women for roles across Zomato-affiliated companies.
