Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts from all walks of life gathered to participate in a grand event organized by the Indian High Commission, celebrating the ancient practice of yoga.

International Yoga Day, celebrated annually on June 21, was established by the United Nations. The day aims to raise awareness worldwide about the many benefits of practising yoga. Hundreds of yoga enthusiasts gathered in London’s renowned Trafalgar Square on Saturday to honour the ancient Indian wellness practice. The Indian embassy in the UK hosted an event that drew over 700 people. Indian High Commissioner Vikram Doraiswami expressed his satisfaction at the turnout, emphasising the inclusive aspect of yoga.

Trafalgar Square, one of London’s most iconic landmarks, served as the perfect backdrop for this significant event. The event drew a diverse crowd, including yoga practitioners of all levels, from beginners to seasoned yogis. The inclusive nature of the event highlighted yoga’s accessibility and its ability to bring people together, regardless of age, background, or fitness level. The primary focus remains on maintaining yoga’s role in healing and personal growth, rather than looking for disparities in participation. Doraiswami noted the diverse involvement from many yoga schools and cultures, emphasising yoga’s ability to bring people from all walks of life together.
