Andheri Gets A Nutritious New Addition With Aharveda

In Sanskrit, Ahar means ‘food’ and Veda can be defined as a ‘philosophy’. Bringing together the two, Aharveda is the newest addition to Andheri’s culinary scene.

What Is It?

Aharveda is your answer to healthy, nutritious food in the city. Dr. Harish Shetty found that the rapid rise of fast food consumption was doing our bodies a great disservice. This beautiful restaurant was born out of an aim to bring back healthy and wholesome food without compromising on the quality and variety.

The Food Philosophy

According to Dr. Harish, food has a specific purpose. It is meant to nurture and build the body and keep everything in balance. At Aharveda, every meal has been carefully curated to ensure a balance is maintained. All the meals served here are vegan, gluten-free, sugar-free and oil free. Oh, and they’re also super delicious.

We started our meal with a glass of vegetable juice. Terrible as that sounds, it was actually delicious! The juice helps with digestion. We moved on to the Hawaiian and Gol Maal Salad. The salads were light and crunchy and once again delicious!

We tried the vegan pizza. There was no cheese in the pizza but it did have cashew as a substitute. I’m not a big fan of cashew in my food and yet this was really tasty. We completed our meal with a thali. We highly recommend you don’t eat as much as we have because then the whole concept of healthy food goes to waste.

The thaali has 5 dishes. There’s also khandvi, upwas ka chaaval, 2 types of chutneys and achar. The kheer served in the thali is super delicious and boon to those suffering from lactose intolerance.

You would expect a place like Aharveda to have a limited cuisine and yet their menu ranges from North Indian to Thai, Mexican and even Italian. Dessert is usually treated as an unhealthy treat- but the Gajar Halwa, Kheer and even chocolate mousse at Aharveda has an element of health attached to it.
