1. Le Pont de la Tour
This elegant French restaurant offers a fantastic view of the Tower Bridge from the riverside terrace. Away from the footfall of the South Bank, Le Pont de la Tour offers a perfect setting for drinks. The restaurant occupies a lengthy stretch of Shad Thames with a fabulous view of the city. Offering light dishes on the menu, try out San Daniela ham with pesto and garden leaves (£12.50) and asparagus hollandaise (£11).

2. Notch
Stand by the terrace and you get a glimpse of the busy Oxford street. Accessed, via an inconspicuous black door on Oxford street, the London’s Marriott Park Lane’s roof terrace is partially-covered by a huge tarpaulin and filled with reclaimed school furniture overlooking the shopping thoroughfare.
Don’t be surprised if you are asked to queue up on sunny days. Based on Mexican-themed sharing menu, the hearty options include fried chicken with kimchi mayonnaise tacos (£8 for two) and smashed crab on tortilla chips (£8). For drinks, try out Uncle Wrays Slushie Rum Punch (£9).

3. The Lighterman
With the impressive redevelopment of King’s Cross, there are now several outdoor dining options. For the prime spot though, head to the lighterman. Spread across three floors, this smart bar has not one but three alfresco options. Open since March, the options include a terrace on Granary Square, another canalside and a part covered balcony. The Lighterman has a modern British menu including delicious flatbreads, salads, burgers et al. Try out the salt baked beets, watercress, feta and red wine dressing (£8) or the roasted cod, celeriax puree, fennel salad and pumpkin seeds (£17)

4. Santa Monica at Sky Lounge
Double Tree By Hilton’s Sky lounges hardly ever disappoint you and Santa Monica is no exception. A Californian themed bar on the 12th floor offers breathtaking view of the Gherkin and the Shard but the plush lounge seating, surfboards and patches of sand create a laidback setting for the drinks.
To add to the theme, graphics of the Santa Monica coastline and Route 66 play along. Frozen Rasberry margaritas (£8.50) and Pineapple mimosas (£8) along with kight bites such as Salmon maki rolls (£10) and fish tacos (£10) are recommended.

5. Tom’s Kitchen HMS Belfast
If you wish to soak up the riverside vibe, head to Tom Aiken’s new opening. Occupying an excellent Bankside spot on the quayside of HMS Belfast, this one is only five months old. The upperdeck houses a 58-seat part covered bar with a wraparound terrace which is perfect to enjoy London’s finest landmarks. As the sun warm you up, cool down with a refreshing Black pearl cocktail (£9.50) and some excellent charcuterie (meat board (£21), cheeses (£18).
