A new facility has been introduced through which you can transfer your IRCTC ticket to another person, if you’re unable to travel.

What Is It?

There’s a new rule by the Indian Railways that allows you to transfer your IRCTC ticket. If you hold a confirmed seat and you’re unable to travel, you will be able to transfer it to another person, including your family. This is only valid for people holding confirmed reservation under IRCTC.

But you won’t be able to do it so simply. The Chief Reservation Supervisor will be allotted for each station so that the name of the passenger can be changed for that particular reservation. Yet another rule to this states that this is a government employee wishing to travel, he or she should submit a request 24 hours prior to the departure.

Who Is Included In The Transfer?

A person is permitted to do this train ticket transfer to his or her family members, including father, mother, brother, sister, son, daughter, husband, and wife. The request for the transfer of the ticket needs to be made in writing 24 hours before the scheduled departure.

If you’re a student from an institution, another student from the same institution will also be eligible for the transfer. A written and signed copy from the head of the institution will be required for this.
