New Year’s Eve is just around the corner. Many people take it as an opportunity to indulge in reckless behaviour like drunk driving which potentially endangers the lives of others as well as their own. Keeping the situation in mind, the Hyderabad police have announced that from 8 PM onwards on December 31, it is going install strict checkpoints for drunk driving across the city. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this news.
₹10,000 Penalty For Drunk Driving In Hyderabad On Dec 31
In order to make sure that incidents of drunk and rash driving are pre-empted and prevented, the Hyderabad police will be setting up strict drunk driving checks across the city. From December 31, 8 PM onwards, the police will carry out these checks.
Should the driver be found guilty of any such untoward behaviour, they may face a penalty of ₹10,000 and/or imprisonment for up to six months. Special cameras have also been installed to detect drunk and/or rash driving.
In addition to this, taxi and auto drivers have also been instructed to not refuse potential passengers. A fine of ₹500 will be imposed if this directive is not followed. In addition to this, they are also instructed to be in uniform and carry all required documents.
Other Important Details To Know About This
A number of roads will be closed on December 31. PVNR E-way and Nehru ORR will be closed for LMVs except for the ones heading to the airport from 10 PM to 5 AM.
Furthermore, the Gachibowli Flyover, Shaikpet Flyover, Mindspace Flyover, Durgam Cheruvu Cable Bridge and more will be closed from 11 PM to 5 AM.
