Good news for Delhiites, the Delhi government has opened multiple drive-in vaccination centres across the city for everyone above the age group of 18. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia launched the first such drive-through centres in Delhi at Vegas Mall in Dwarka and Select City Walk mall in Saket. And that is just the beginning. Instead of visiting a hospital, you can visit these centres and get vaccinated while sitting in the comfort of your car. How Do Drive-In Vaccination Centres Work?
On May 26, Delhi inaugurated its first-ever drive-in vaccination centre at Vegas Mall, Sector 14, Dwarka for people in the age group of 18-44 years. Now, if you’re wondering whether drive-in vaccination centres are a safe option as compared to hospitals, here’s what you must know. Dr Aashish Chaudhry, MD, Aakash Healthcare, informed NDTV that it’s one of the safest ways to get vaccinated while maintaining both Covid protocols and social distancing. The whole concept of a drive-in vaccination centre goes like this. You first need to register your slots on the CoWIN app.

And then, you must reach the venue on schedule. Park your cars in designated parking areas and remain seated inside your vehicles. Wait for the medical professionals to visit your vehicle and administer the jab while you’re seated in the car itself. You might also have to spend a mandatory 30 minute observation period inside your car and leave after showing the receipt to the security guard at the exit. This not only makes the waiting time comfortable but also ensures social distancing. Dr Aashish Chaudhry hopes that drive-in vaccination centres will give Delhiites easy access to the vaccine and also urge youngsters to take the jab, thanks to its convenient and hassle-free nature.
