A religious gathering was recently organised in the Hathras district in Uttar Pradesh. The event became the talk of the town nationwide after the news of devotees passing away broke out. According to multiple reports and many social media posts, many people faced injuries and a large number of people died tragically at the stampede in Hathras. Police have filed an FIR against the people behind the satsang.
About 121 People Lost Lives At The Hathras Stampede Tragedy

According to a report by Business Standard, at least 121 people have died in this programme by the self-styled godman. The concerned authorities are yet to identify 19 among the deceased. About 28 people in the religious congregation sustained injuries, as shared by the Office of the Relief Commissioner.
Lakhs of people rushed to the venue to attend the event of Bhole Baba, also known as Narayan Sakar Vishwa Hari. Bhole Baba’s real name is Suraj Pal. Reports state that the number of devotees at the religious congregation in Hathras exceeded the permitted numbers by the administration. Though the permission was for 80,000, over 2.5 lakh people were present at the gathering, according to a report by NDTV.
Police have started to investigate the incident. Officials reached the accident site in Hathras where the stampede took place. Many even visited Bhole Baba’s ashram located in Mainpuri. A forensic unit with a dog squad headed to the tragic place where devotees died of suffocation and crowd. Also, the National Disaster Response Force, State Disaster Response Force, and Uttar Pradesh Provincial Armed Constabulary have arrived at the location.

The Uttar Pradesh Police have filed an FIR already. The FIR is under sections 105, 110, 126(2), 223, and 238 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023, according to a report by CNBC TV18. It is against the organisers and the Mukhya Sewadar.
As devotees were more than expected, the pressure of lakhs led to many people feeling suffocated and getting crushed. Videos making rounds on social media show how bodies got piled up on one another.
