A new 150-km highway is set to improve road connectivity between Moradabad and Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh, with authorities speeding up land acquisition for the project in both districts. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) is working to acquire around 190 hectares of land across 22 villages in Moradabad. New Expressway To Cut Travel Time Between Moradabad And Aligarh
According to reports by NDTV, the existing two-lane high-speed corridor is being upgraded into a four-lane, access-controlled highway. In Aligarh, land acquisition will cover 45 villages across the Gabhana and Koil tehsils. The proposed highway will connect Moradabad with Aligarh via Amroha, Sambhal and Bulandshahr. In Moradabad, authorities have already restricted the sale, purchase and registration of land in areas expected to be affected by the acquisition.
The 150-km journey between Moradabad and Aligarh currently takes around three to four hours, depending on traffic and road conditions. The existing route passes through Chandausi, Babrala and Dibai, where congestion, narrow stretches and heavy traffic can slow down vehicles.
Once the four-lane access-controlled highway becomes operational, vehicles could travel at speeds of up to 100 kmph. This could reduce the journey time to around 1.5 to 2 hours. The highway will have controlled entry and exit points, with vehicles required to use designated interchanges. Two-wheelers and three-wheelers will not be permitted on the corridor.

New Highway To Connect With Ganga Expressway
The project is also planned to connect with the Ganga Expressway through a proposed Badaun link. This could provide travellers from Moradabad and Aligarh with a more direct road connection towards Prayagraj and other parts of eastern Uttar Pradesh. The highway will also include infrastructure aimed at improving safety and separating local traffic from highway movement. Underpasses, elevated bypasses and pedestrian bridges are planned at suitable locations. A major bridge on the Aligarh-Moradabad section is also part of the project, with a construction tender worth ₹12.5 crore issued in June 2026. The project will further strengthen road connectivity towards Agra. Work on widening the first 28-km package of the Agra-Aligarh four-lane highway project began in March, with completion expected by 2028.

Once the projects are completed, travellers will have four-lane connectivity from Moradabad to Aligarh and onwards towards Agra, creating a wider road network across western Uttar Pradesh.
