125 Patients Evacuated After Fire Accident At An Ahmedabad Hospital; No Casualties Reported

In the early hours of Sunday morning, a devastating fire broke out in the basement of Rajasthan Hospital, a 10-storey medical facility in the Sahibaug area of Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The incident sparked immediate concern among hospital staff and authorities, prompting them to swiftly take action to ensure the safety of the patients and staff. According to Inspector M D Champavat from Sahibaug police station, the fire was first reported at approximately 4.30 am. It is believed that the blaze originated due to ongoing renovation work at the hospital.

As per the reports from Hindustan Times, Several items stored in the basement caught fire, leading to the rapid spread of flames and the release of massive amounts of smoke throughout the building. As the fire rapidly intensified, it became evident that the lives of the patients and hospital staff were at risk. In response, the fire department immediately dispatched around two dozen firefighting vehicles to the scene. Firefighters and emergency responders worked tirelessly to contain the blaze and prevent it from spreading further throughout the building.

As a precautionary measure, hospital authorities decided to evacuate approximately 125 patients from the facility. The evacuation process was carried out with great care and efficiency, ensuring patients were safely transferred to nearby hospitals for continued medical care and attention. Thankfully, as of now, there have been no reports of casualties or injuries resulting from the fire. The focus remains on bringing the situation under control and investigating the cause of the fire.

The Hospital Is Run By A Charitable Trust

As per the Hindustan Times reports, The Rajasthan Hospital is a significant healthcare institution run by a charitable trust. It has been serving the medical needs of the community for many years. 

In the coming days, authorities will conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the fire and determine if any safety protocols were violated during the renovation work. The priority remains on ensuring the well-being of the patients, addressing any immediate risks, and working towards the hospital’s recovery.
