In a deeply unsettling incident that unfolded on a private airline flight from Pune to Nagpur, a 32-year-old man’s indecent actions and lewd gestures targeted a 40-year-old woman seated beside him. This man reportedly masturbated on the woman sitting next to him and was finally arrested. The harrowing episode has raised serious concerns about passenger safety and the need for more robust measures to combat such behaviour. It underscores the imperative for stringent actions and heightened awareness to safeguard the well-being and dignity of airline passengers.
Man Arrested For Lewd In-Flight Behaviour
As per the reports from News18, on a private airline, a 32-year-old man named Feroze Shaikh, who was travelling from Pune to Nagpur, reportedly engaged in an inappropriate act. Shaikh allegedly masturbated and made lewd gestures towards a 40-year-old woman seated beside him during the flight. The woman, identified as a teacher residing in Chandrapur, was en route to Nagpur to perform her father’s last rites. This horrific incident certainly must have added to her grief.
The incident came to light when she eventually raised an alarm to prompt the flight crew and ground staff to respond. Finally, CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) personnel were called in to apprehend the suspect. The woman disclosed that she had fallen asleep shortly after takeoff and was initially unaware of the disturbing behaviour of the passenger seated next to her.
She grew suspicious when the inappropriate actions continued and the man allegedly made lewd gestures. The woman also shared that she intended to inform the cabin crew immediately. However, by the time she decided to do so, the flight had already landed.

Accused Is Facing Legal Consequences
The accused, Feroze Shaikh, works as an engineer and resides in Pune’s Kondhwa area. He reportedly attempted to flee as soon as the plane doors were opened. However, CISF personnel on board intervened. As per the News 18 reports, they detained Shaikh before alerting the authorities. The Sonegaon police station officer reported that Feroze Shaikh was headed to an industrial water plant near Nagpur for work at the time of the incident.

Following the incident, Shaikh was charged under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (assault or use of criminal force against a woman with the intent to outrage her modesty), 354 (a) (sexual harassment), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman). He was later remanded in jail custody as further investigations into the case were still ongoing.
Feroze Shaikh is reportedly engaged to be married next month. Now, he faces legal consequences for his inappropriate actions on the flight.
