An official said that around 1 pm on Thursday, while the plane was 15 miles away from the runway at Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport, the man tried to open the emergency door. According to a spokeswoman for the Airports Authority of India, the crew and other passengers intervened and stopped the endeavour, allowing the aircraft to land safely in Agartala.

An official reported that the jet was 15 km off the Maharaja Bir Bikram Airport runway in Agartala. An Airports Authority of India representative said that after the crew and other passengers intervened and stopped the endeavour, the jet safely landed in Agartala.

However, the individual refused to be stopped and engaged in combat with the cabin crew and other travellers. The captain was informed by the cabin crew, who then brought the aircraft back to Agartala Airport for the man’s detention.
