Amarnath Yatra is one of the most significant pilgrimages that are undertaken by Hindus every year. This year, it began on the 1st of July and will conclude on the 31st of August. So far, close to 2.3 lakh people have paid their respects at the Shiva Temple in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam tehsil in the Anantnag district. Recently, more than 6.5 thousand devotees left for the Amarnath Yatra from a base camp.
6,648 Pilgrims Leave For Amarnath Yatra
The Amarnath temple is a highly respected shrine. Each year, millions of devotees flock to the temple to fulfil the spiritual aspect of their lives and to seek blessings from the holy place. Today, around 6,648 devotees left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu.
Since the Yatra began on the 1st of July, this is the 15th batch of people to leave to seek blessings from the holy shrine. The 6.5 thousand people left in a convoy of 245 vehicles and left early in the morning.
According to an article recently published by ZeeNews, another convoy of 109 vehicles was left carrying around 2,998 people. This convoy will head to the Baltal base camp in Jammu and Kahmir’s Ganderbal district. From the twin tracks from Anantnag and Pahalgam base camp, the journey forward will be undertaken.

About This Auspicious Hindu Pilgrimage
The Amarnath temple is perched at an altitude of 3,888 metres or 12,675 ft. It is 168 kilometres from the Anantnag district. The temple houses a natural stalagmite which is revered as a Shiv Linga. Every year hordes of people visit the temple in order to seek blessings.
The yatra typically lasts around 62 days and will end on the 31st of August. The length of this particular yatra can vary anywhere from 20 to 60 days. Many celebrities like Saina Nehwal and Sai Pallavi have also recently been on the auspicious yatra.
