Literature lovers, we have some good news for you all! After a three-year hiatus, the much-anticipated Gateway LitFest is making a comeback in Mumbai. Back with its 7th edition, the festival will be held on March 1 and 2 at Mumbai University’s Fort Campus. The festival is known for celebrating writings and writers in Indian languages. Read on to know more about this year’s festival.

7th Edition Of Gateway LitFest Coming Back This March

Literature festivals to bibliophiles are what comic cons are to comic lovers! And understanding how much Mumbai missed one of its much-anticipated lit festivals, Gateway LitFest (GLF) is all set to make a comeback after three years! The 7th Gateway LitFest is happening in Mumbai on March 1 and 2. This will mark the end of a three-year hiatus that hit this lit fest due to the pandemic. Renowned as the largest platform for Indian language writers, GLF is back with the promise to reignite the literary fervour in Mumbaikars. The theme for this year is ‘Indian Literature Going Global.’

This edition will see top writers, including Jnanpith laureates and Akademi awardees, from different regional languages. Some of the biggest names to grace the event this year will be Adoor Gopalakrishnan, Pratibha Ray, and Damodar Mauzo. Besides them, celebrated writers like Subodh Sarkar, Sitanshu Yashaschandra, Sachin Ketkar, AJ Thomas, S Prasannarajan, Vivek Shanbhag, Paul Zacharia, Devibharathi, Anwar Ali, N Kalyana Raman, Fathima EV, Shanta Gokhale, Jameel Gulrays, Farook Shaheen, Ramu Ramnathan, Resul Pookkutty, and Vetrimaaran, will grace the event as speakers. The 7th edition of Gateway LitFest will feature several sessions covering different facets of literature, including translations, drama, poetry, and regional themes.

A Literature Festival Celebrating Writings & Writers In Indian Languages

This literary festival is a first-of-its-kind event that widely celebrates the writings and writers in Indian languages. It brings to light the diversity and richness of Indian literature and provides a platform for writers to bring forward their work. It is also a national-level forum that facilitates the exchange of ideas and the integration of regional languages into mainstream literature. The first ever GLF was held in 2015 and has since become quite popular amongst literary circles.
