Since the series of devastating earthquakes shook the countries of Syria and Turkey, there have been constant reports of earthquakes hitting other parts of the world. Recently, India, too, felt a few earthquakes in its Northeastern region. Although, it seems that there weren’t any major damages. This time, a massive earthquake was felt in the central Asian country of Tajikistan. This earthquake hit the region on the 23rd of February on Thursday.

6.8 Magnitude Earthquake Hit Near Murghob In Tajikistan

The earthquake that was felt near the Murghob region of Tajikistan measured 6.8 magnitudes on the Richter scale. The epicentre of the earthquake was some 67 kilometres west of Murghob. According to reports, the earthquake was 20.5 kilometres deep and was felt around midnight.

The earthquake was reported by the United States Geological Survey (USGS) who sent out a tweet reporting the same. As of now, not much information has been revealed about the earthquake and about the damage it caused. Investigations are still underway.

However, according to certain reports, it seems that the impact of this earthquake was not just limited to Tajikistan. It seems that the ripple effects of the earthquake have carried all the way to China. Some reports suggest that the tremors of the earthquake were also felt in China.

Tajikistan is a landlocked country in Central Asia that is known for its rugged landscapes, mountains, and beautiful lakes. A large majority of the population there follows the religion of Islam, and Christianity is followed by a small minority.

Recently, there have been many reports of earthquakes hitting regions across the globe, most notably, the series of devastating earthquakes that hit the Turkish and Syrian regions. The death tolls in these disasters were at an all-time high and many areas of the two countries were reduced to dust.

There were many who lost their lives and families to the earthquake. The earthquakes have been one of the worst tragedies of 2023 so far.
