Aaditya Thackeray: The Sense Of Dignity During My Grandfather’s Time In Politics Is Missing Today

Our Editor-in-Chief, Kamiya Jani, was in conversation with one of Maharashtra’s youngest and most handsome politicians, Aaditya Thackeray, for this delightful episode of Sunday Brunch. He spotlighted a crucial thing about the status quo of politics in our country. It has gotten to the point where if the opposition stops trolling him even for a day, he worries. Tap on the episode linked below to watch him talk at length about Mumbai, trolls, mental health and more.

Aaditya Thackeray Said That Earlier There Used To Be A Sense Of Dignity In Politics

Aaditya, the leader of Yuva Sena, talked about getting trolled on the Internet on a regular basis and how it has affected him in the long run. So much so that he is almost looking for trolls to bombard him and pinpoint what he may have done wrong. He shared his thoughts about when the opposition party and politics, in general, had a sense of dignity.

This was way back during his grandfather’s time and even his father’s earlier days in politics. Aaditya emphasised how the “sense of dignity” was not only towards politics but was seeped into the opposition parties and their political stances. He added, “It was a political opposition, it was an ideological opposition and not a personal vendetta movement.”

Politics is indeed more like a personal game for most of the political parties nowadays. Rather than a collective system that acts in favour of the residents of a country, it has become a game of one-upping pulling others down. This is true for most of the political parties around the world and not just India.

Aaditya continued that, nowadays, he thinks he has done something majorly wrong when the opposition doesn’t troll him about it!

He elaborated to Kamiya that if he tweets about a pleasant action or even a tiny thing he did which can be as simple as drinking a cup of cold coffee, the trolls question him. The Internet can be a weird place!
