The inaugural ceremony of the world’s first mosque, which has been built using 3-D printing technology was recently celebrated in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Called Abdulaziz Abdullah Sharbatly Mosque, this legendary structure is truly the first of its kind in the world. In the suburbs of Jeddah, here’s all you need to know about the mosque that has been named after the late Abdulaziz Abdullah Sharbatly, a tribute from his wife, Saudi businesswoman Wajnat Abdulwahed.

The innovative structure is a part of National Housing Co.’s portfolio and it was recently unveiled in a huge gathering of senior government officials. The world’s first mosque that has been built using 3D printing technology, this is spread across 5600 m². It is built using cutting-edge 3D printers from Guanli, which is a Chinese manufacturer that is renowned in the realm of three-dimensional printing technology.

The Minarets Have Been Designed Exquisitely

Coming to the mosque, the design is centred within a circle that is oriented towards the Kibla. As a happens, this opening comes at a time, when the month of Ramadan has finally begun. Talking about the Minarets, these have been designed to make the mosque a distinctive landmark in the neighbourhood. Not to mention, the open outdoor area has been inspired by Hijr Ismail, which is beside the Kaaba in the grand mosque.

It Will Be Open 24*7

As it happens, this mosque will be open 24*7 and the open outdoor courtyard can hold even more worshippers than those during the busy prayer times like Friday prayers. Inspired by the cultural heritage of architecture, this mosque is certainly a landmark architecture that offers a sense of tranquillity.

It’s worth mentioning that the opening comes ahead of the planned opening of similar mosque made using 3D printing in Dubai, with plans of opening the same by 2025.
