You are all aware that Abu Dhabi Festival begins today, and this year, several renowned artists from around the globe have been invited to the celebration. For those who aren’t aware, this is the festival of ‘Bilad Al Khayr,’ the land of blessings, the land of Zayed, and embraces the values of dialogue, tolerance, respect, and peace. An annual festival, it was founded back in 2004 and the first edition was held under the patronage of is His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, then the Minister of Information and Culture. So, on the 20th edition of the Abu Dhabi Festival, spectacular a series of interesting events have been curated for visitors and we are here to tell you all about it.

The Abu Dhabi Festival on its 20th anniversary celebrates the two decades of the nation’s creative spirit. This year, the theme is ‘The Will for Evolution’ and this year’s exquisite edition plans to inspire and unite, bringing beauty and joy to audiences at home and abroad through its astounding new productions, commissions, and world premiers. From Jazz music and cello performances to dance performances, there is something for every visitor. At this point, it is worth mentioning that this program is being organised Abu Dhabi Music And Arts Foundation.

Spectacular Headline Programs To Watch Out For

Talking about curated headline programs, these will feature world-renowned artists performing till March 20. Some of these handpicked performances include:

  • De Scheherazade A Yo, Carmen by Maria Pages at Emirates Palace – World-acclaimed for their fantastic flamenco shows, Vanguard flamenco dancer and choreographer María Pagés, will leave you astounded with this performance.

  • Gregory Porter at Emirates Palace
    A UAE premier, this two-time Grammy Award-winning Jazz musician will make his UAE debut with soulful music from his albums Liquid Spirit (2014) and Take Me to the Alley (2017).

  • Buddha Passion – Tan Dun at Emirates Palace
    Making his Middle East premier, Tan Dun is a Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer. He will be performing Buddha Passion, talking about his teachings through a unique musical work.
