A fresh farmers’ market has started up in Abu Dhabi’s Mina Zayed neighbourhood, under the guidance and encouragement of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister.
The wholesale farmers’ marketplace is accessible daily from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. until May. With the ability to sell about 20 tonnes of farm commodities each day, it has 13 marketing outlets that serve 20 neighbourhood farmers. Wholesalers, retailers, and customers eager to purchase medium- to large-quantity local produce goods can do so at the marketplace.
The market’s primary backer and sponsor is ADAFSA. Its objectives are to develop cutting-edge marketing possibilities for small-scale agricultural production of both plant and animal products. Increase the competitiveness of regional goods, and enhance consumer access to local goods.
