Abu Dhabi Resumes Suspended Bus Services Between Emirates From Today

Public bus services from Abu Dhabi to other emirates, which was stalled amid the pandemic has resumed. From today, all public buses will shuttle between emirates. The update was announced by Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport on Wednesday. The authorities stated that the buses would resume operations with safety measures in place. Here’s everything you must know about it.

Starting Today Buses Will Ply At 50 Per Cent Capacity With Temperature Checks And Other Measures

The buses will ply from today with all the sanitary checks in place. Regular sanitisation of the buses, reducing passenger capacity to 50 per cent and mandatory use of face masks for all on board, including drivers are some of the measures taken by the authorities. Thermal cameras are also installed at gates to check the temperatures of passengers.

Services that will be resumed are: X90 between Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Cities and X60, X62, X86, X87 and X88 between Al Dhafra Region and Abu Dhabi City. For other buses, the frequency and demand of the public will be observed, and then the services will be increased accordingly.

Abu Dhabi Also Launches Park & Ride Service For Citizens

Abu Dhabi suspended its bus services from April but resumed internal operations from August 19. Besides this, a Park & Ride service was launched yesterday, before the start of Abu Dhabi’s toll gate system. With this from January 2, individuals will be able to park their cars in dedicated areas in the suburbs close to Abu Dhabi island and use free public buses to travel within the city. Ain’t that wow? For this, tonnes of parking spaces are allotted in Al Shahama and Mohammed bin Zayed City for commuters.

For the rides, every person in the vehicle will be given three parks and Ride tickets to use inside the city. With this new regulation, the authorities also aim to reduce congestion in the city.

With all this place, travelling in Abu Dhabi will now be much simpler.
