The UAE has some strict rules to be followed when it comes to Covid guidelines. And this applies even to vehicles. As per the rule, a maximum of three people can travel in the car at the same time. In case there is more than one person, all the passengers in the car must wear a facemask. However, the restriction does not apply if the passengers in the car belong to the same family.
If the passengers are not from the same family, then a maximum limit of three people is permitted. Individuals have also been urged to wear mask at all times, especially if they are traveling with in the same vehicle with someone else. Failure to adhere to this will lead to a fine of AED 3000.
The UAE government announced an updated list of fines and penalties for violating Covid-19 precautionary measures. Here is the updated list of fines and penalties as announced on 28 June.

- AED 5,000 fine for not maintaining social distance in public places
- AED 3,000 for not wearing masks while with non-family members in the car
- AED 3,000 for motorists who allow more than three persons in the car

- AED 10,000 for those caught organizing gatherings or social events like a wedding or party
For Covid Testing
- AED 5,000 for those who refuse to undergo medical tests upon requests
- AED 10,000 for those refusing to download the Covid-19 smart app
- AED 20,000 for hacking health app or tampering with its software
- AED 20,000 for refusing thermal screening
- AED 20,000 for copying, publishing or leaking health data of patients
- AED 50,000 for refusing home quarantine
- AED 100,000 fine and 6 months jail for repeat violators

3. Fundraising
Raising funds for a noble cause is a big deal in the UAE. You might know this if you were in the country this Ramadan. However, with several fraudulent cases reported, the government has now tightened strings for fundraising. Any form of donation in the UAE must be approved by the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department (IACAD). Failure in doing so will be considered a breach in the UAE’s charity law and can lead to imprisonment, fines of between AED 250,000 and AED 500,000 or even deportation.
4. Washing Your Car
It’s not easy to maintain a squeaky clean car in the UAE. The sand and rains can leave your car looking like an antique piece. However, clearing it is a whole different story too. Washing cars in residential areas or outside your homes is strictly prohibited as dirty water can pollute the city.
