Ramadan cannons are an important part of the festival tradition. And as the festivities begin for the holy month, an announcement by the Sharjah Police has been made as well. Well, the official authority recently revealed the locations where the Ramadan cannons will be fired. Take a look!

Iftar Cannons Locations Revealed In Sharjah

It is no secret that Iftar Canons are an important part of the holy month of Ramadan. And for this year, the firing locations have now been revealed by the Sharjah Police. Yes, they have revealed five locations across the city where the canons will be situated. These include the following areas –

  • Meteorological Front Square
  • Fortress Square in the Central Region
  • Clock Tower Square in Kalba City
  • Khurfkan Runway Square
  • Daba Al Hassan Center Square

Similarly, Dubai police had also recently revealed the areas where the firing canons would be situated. This included expo Dubai which is once again one of the places where the main canon will be situated. These mobile canons will travel to 13 areas and six of them will be placed in The following locations

  • Damac Hills
  • Vida Creek Harbour
  • Burj Khalifa
  • Mirdif Downtown
  • Festival City
  • Hatta Guest Hous

In case you’re wondering what 13 locations, this will include the following locations –

  • Al Satwa Big Mosque
  • Burj Khalifa
  • Nad Al Sheba
  • Al Ghaf Walk
  • Umm Suqeim Majlis
  • Zabeel Park
  • Nad Al Sheba

The Tradition Of Iftar Cannons

At this point, it’s worth mentioning that it’s unclear where the tradition of firing of iftar canons came into being in the UAE. However, it is expected to have begun in 10th century Egypt, according to historians. It was done in order for people to know what time the iftar began. Not to mention, presently it makes for a great sight for excited visitors who want to witness the firing of the canons.
