The UAE announced Monday as the inaugural day of Ramadan 2024 following the country’s moon-sighting committee’s successful observation of the crescent moon on Sunday, March 10, 2024. Today, March 10, marks the final day of Sha’ban, and the sacred month will commence on Monday, March 11. In Saudi Arabia, the crescent moon has also been sighted. Consequently, Ramadhān 1445 will commence tonight, accompanied by Taraweeh prayers after Isha.

Many Middle Eastern countries like Oman have yet to see the moon. The country has announced March 12 as the starting day for Ramadan due to no sighting of the crescent moon yet. Along with Oman, Australia, Brunei, Malaysia and the Philippines will also start observing the fast from March 12, 2024.
