Tejeshwar Singh, who shared the video online, said he had never come across a golgappa cart at any other airport. Delighted by the discovery, he described Chandigarh as a city of food lovers and playfully suggested that it could also be called ‘Chatoragarh’.
In the video, Singh said, “You’ll realise just how much of a city for foodies Chandigarh is the moment you arrive at its airport. I’ve never seen a golgappa cart at any other airport, but I spotted one the second I landed in Chandigarh.”
He added, “This isn’t just Chandigarh; you could even call it ‘Chatoragarh’ (a city of food lovers)!”
Social Media Calls It A ‘Peak Punjabi Experience’
The video struck a chord with Instagram users, several of whom shared their own experiences of the airport’s food offerings. One user recalled stopping at the cart soon after landing, writing, “Man, this was my first stop after I landed in Chandigarh. The chat was so chatpata. 100% recommended.”
Another called it the highlight of their visit, while a third said they were equally surprised to spot the stall. One viewer summed up the experience by calling it a “Peak Punjabi experience” that begins right at the airport.
The golgappa cart was not the only food option that caught people’s attention. A user also pointed out that the airport has a chai thela near the entrance.
Another commenter offered a possible reason for the cart’s appeal, suggesting that it caters to business travellers who spend only a day or less in the city and may not have time to visit local golgappa stalls. The airport stop, they said, gives them a chance to satisfy their cravings before leaving.
