After Goa, Manipur Becomes 2nd Indian State To Be Free From Coronavirus

The fight against coronavirus is a long and tedious one. Amidst the suffering and deaths, the little victories lead us a step ahead towards conquering this disease. Goa became the first state in India to be declared coronavirus free. And a day after Goa announced their triumph over COVID-19 another state joined the bandwagon. The Chief Minister of Manipur, N Biren Singh announced on Twitter that both the patients in the states who earlier tested positive for coronavirus have recovered from the infection, and tested negative.

What’s In It?

The first patient to test positive for coronavirus in Manipur was that of a 23-year-old woman who just returned from the UK. The second patient in the state was a 65-year-old patient who was infected after his return from the Tablighi Jamaat event in Delhi’s Nizamuddin. The Chief Minister of Manipur, Biren Singh tweeted that he is glad to share that the state is now corona free. He informed through his tweet on Sunday, evening that the two patients have both fully recovered and tested negative, and there are no fresh cases in Manipur.

What’s More?

Manipur becomes the second state to become coronavirus free in India, after Goa. The coastal state of Goa witnessed 7 positive coronavirus cases, 6 of them had travel history and one was the brother of a positive patient. Goa reported seven coronavirus cases and the state’s last patient recovered on April 19. And Manipur announced that the second patient received on April 19.

Goa has now emerged to be the first green state in the country with no case of coronavirus being reported from April 3. As per the Union Ministry Notification regarding relaxations in the lockdown, both Goa and Manipur can commence their business activities while following the compulsory safety protocol.
