With temperatures soaring to as high as 37°C in different parts of Uttarakhand, the state is witnessing a rather hot April this time around. Thankfully though, there will be a significant drop in temperatures from April 18 evening. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), there are chances of light rain in hilly areas today and tomorrow. There is also a forecast of hail storms in various parts of Uttarakhand over the next few days. Seeing this weather changes, the meteorological department has issued a yellow alert in various parts of Uttarakhand. Read on to know more about the state’s weather ahead of the voting day tomorrow.

Temperatures Set To Drop In Uttarakhand As Weather Takes Rain-y Turn

Uttarakhand is likely to witness a cloudy evening with light rain showers in some hilly areas on April 18. This will bring some respite to the people in the region that have witnessed a sunny and dry April so far. As per IMD prediction, there are chances of light rains in different parts of the state.

With General Elections on April 19 in Uttarakhand, this weather shift is a welcome change. The meteorological department has forecasted showers with thunder and lightning from the mountains to the plains. Also, there are warnings of hail storms at some places in the plains over the next few days.

Yellow Alert Issued In Parts Of State With Hail Storm Warnings

A fresh western disturbance is anticipated to impact Northwest India on April 18. This will cause hail storms in Uttarakhand from April 18-21. Seeing this, IMD has issued a yellow alert in some parts of the state. This includes areas like Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, and Dehradun.

The state is forecasted to remain cloudy throughout April 19 with light rainfall in most areas. There are also chances of thunder, lightning, and gusty wind at some places.
