A Bangalore-based entrepreneur recently sparked debate online after he praised Ahmedabad on social media. He compared Gujarat city with the IT capital of India and said that the former is “at least 10 years ahead” of Bangalore in terms of roads, infrastructure and traffic management. Scroll on to see what the internet has to say about this comparison.
Bangalore-Based CEO Compares Bangalore With Ahmedabad
Ahmedabad is at least 10 years ahead of Bangalore in terms of road quality, footpaths, traffic management, traffic signals, etc.
Bangalore is in shambles. :(
— Siddharth Dialani (@siddharth_iitm) January 25, 2025
We have seen people arguing online and comparing Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. But it seems like another city has entered this never-ending debate now. Siddharth Dialani, a Bangalore-based entrepreneur, recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to compare Ahmedabad and Bangalore. Comparing road quality, footpaths, and traffic management between the two cities, he said, “Bangalore is in shambles :(“
Here, every traffic signal has a working timer with bright lights.
This alone reduces driver anxiety, and makes them stop with patience. Can’t believe that such a basic thing is missing in almost all signals of Bangalore.
Bangalore is so dusty that signal lights are not even…

He said, in Ahmedabad, “every traffic signal has a working timer with bright lights” and even these “basic things” are missing in almost all signals of Bangalore. He further mentioned, “Bangalore is so dusty that signal lights are not even visible.”
Siddharth then compared the roads in the two cities. According to his tweet, roads in Ahmedabad are “so wide and lane markings are quite prominent” and there were hardly any potholes there. As for Bangalore roads, he felt that “Indian road quality is going down.”
Roads are so wide and lane markings are quite prominent.
It’s like markings were done just yesterday.
Looking at Bangalore, I used to believe that Indian road quality is going down.
After looking at Ahmedabad, I realised that It’s not India, it’s just Bangalore!I couldn’t…
— Siddharth Dialani (@siddharth_iitm) January 25, 2025
Finally, he mentioned that Ahmedabad is quite well lit and the “city looks bright and happening.” He felt that this can directly affect the mood of the population as people are generally happy and smiling in the city. As for Bangalore, he said, “Even basic street lights don’t work.”
Here’s What The Internet Has To Say About This Comparison
Siddharth Dialani’s tweet comparing Ahmedabad and Bangalore has left the internet divided. While many people agreed with him and shared their own experience in the city, others said that it was unfair to compare the two cities. Many pointed out how Bangalore has better job opportunities and world connectivity. Here are some comments from the post that you cannot miss out on.
I can’t imagine Bangalore roads and infrastructure if you liked Ahmedabad so much.

From Ahmedabad visiting after 5 years. Roads r better and city is much cleaner and greener
Construction dust is still a problem .
If they follow trajectory, in next 10 years, the city should be clean— foolish_immigrant (@sanketgator) January 26, 2025
Even Bangalore has wider roads and clean roads. You are comparing just one part of the road and making this statement. Both cities have good and worse roads, but bangalore is always ahead.

Noone is mistreated in Gujarat for unable to read or speak Gujarati language
— Mathur (@_AMathur) January 27, 2025
Having visited both Bangalore and Ahmedabad, you must be kidding Bangalore is on par with Ahmedabad in terms of infra. Bangalore is even worse than Mumbai in terms of road quality
— Sunny D (@CA_DS05) January 27, 2025
Bangalore roads are in pathetic condition…..don’t behave like ostrich living in denial
— suraj kumar (@ersurajkumar) January 26, 2025
Because of this ‘lively’ thing, Bangalore has become unlivable.
— Siddharth Dialani (@siddharth_iitm) January 25, 2025
Bangalore is at least 20 years ahead of Ahmedabad in terms of providing job opportunities.
— Shekar Iyer (@SHEKARSUSHEEL) January 26, 2025
@siddharth_iitm not sure about Bangalore, but ahmedabad traffic management and civic sense is one of the worst that I’ve seen. Rash driving like never seen before, broken traffic signals, no helmets, and what not! Bangalore could be worse but Ahmedabad is very very poor
— Shreyash (@shreyashv92) January 26, 2025
What about people ? Are they as honest, humble and non-interfering as kannadigas ?
— Vishwaguru (@vishwaguru__) January 26, 2025
10 years ahead? I am sure even after 10 years the roads will be same in bangalore
— janvin (@sjanvin) January 26, 2025
You ppl are the traffic , please move there and help the city regain it’s charm !
— Venu aravind. $ (@Venuaravind99) January 26, 2025
Actually they have infrastructure for 1.5 cr population and their current population is less than a crore. The same thing is reversed meaning Bangalore infra is servicing more than 50% population which it actually can service
— Saurabh Jha (@sjha801) January 25, 2025
People clocking out of Electronic City IT offices everyday will be anyday more than general population of Ahmedabad 😋 Comparison makes no sense.
— Hari Prasad (@nextdoorhari) January 26, 2025
I agree; I travelled there last year, and the roads are amazing. The footpaths are well-maintained. However, people don’t follow traffic rules, though there wasn’t much traffic either.
— Hari (@naraharims) January 25, 2025
True, Ahmedabad’s urban planning and infrastructure have set a great example. Bangalore’s rapid growth seems to have outpaced its planning, leaving roads, traffic, and footpaths in chaos. Hoping the city gets the attention it desperately needs to match its potential
— BlueGreen Planet (@De_le_Vega) January 26, 2025
I don’t get it. I’ve been there and it felt like I went back in time to mediaeval times… it’s like a typical old town
Although I hope and pray that blore gets decongested
— Chapterwise l CultureMag (@qzulki) January 27, 2025
Footpath 🤣
There are only limited roads with proper footpath, most “footpaths” are less of footpath but more road of boundaries. Even they are encroached.— . (@vinit_2283) January 25, 2025
