Air India Airline Puts Crew On A Low-Fat Meal

Indian budget airline, Air India recently sent a memo to its staff which said it would be launching a brand new menu for the staff that will be a low-fat meal. These new menus will be implemented from September 15th 2019 and will be carried out in all flights flying between Mumbai and Delhi.

Indian budget airline, Air India recently sent a memo to its staff which said it would be launching a brand new menu for the staff that will be a low-fat meal. These new menus will be implemented from September 15th 2019 and will be carried out in all flights flying between Mumbai and Delhi.

As per reports from Independent, the memo mentioned the following statement –  “Taking into consideration the health factor of the crew, an initiative has been taken by director operations to revise the in-flight food menu for the crew.” The menu will include items such as green peas bhurji, mushroom egg white omelette, besan chilla and various kebabs.

The memo also read this – “In view of the above, special low-fat diet meal for crew has been worked out on day-wise basis in order to provide light and healthy meal with a home (Indian) touch,” with inputs from Independent.
But this is not the very first time Air India airline has tried to pull a similar thing in the past. The airline had asked its staff to lose weight in the year 2015 or they will have to take up a job at the airport.

Air India’s spokesperson, Dhananjay Kumar said that the objective of this move is to provide healthy and also cost-effective food. There are also reports that this change in the menu will bring down their expense. The airline is currently under the debt of ₹ 58,000 crores.

The airline does not have a very good reputation when it comes to the weight loss of their employees. As per the News 18 reports, they fired 10 air hostesses as they were overweight and failed to get in shape, they were later shifted to ground jobs.
