Air India has announced temporary reductions and suspensions across several international long-haul routes operated by its Boeing 787 and 777 aircraft. The airline made this announcement via its official handle on X (formerly Twitter) on 18 June 2025. These adjustments, effective from 21 June to at least 15 July 2025, come in response to ongoing pre-flight safety checks and longer flight durations due to airspace restrictions over the Middle East.
Air India’s Suspended Routes Until Mid-July
Air India’s three key routes have been temporarily suspended:
- Delhi to Nairobi (AI961/962) – 4x weekly flights (suspended until 30th June)
- Amritsar to London (Gatwick) (AI169/170) – 3x weekly flights
- Goa (Mopa) to London (Gatwick) (AI145/146) – 3x weekly flights
Reduced Frequencies On Long-Haul Flights
The most notable impact of the Air India flight reductions is across major routes to North America:
- Delhi to Toronto is to be reduced from 13x to 7x weekly
- Delhi to Vancouver is to be reduced from 7x to 5x weekly
- Delhi to San Francisco is to be reduced from 10x to 7x weekly
- Delhi to Chicago is to be reduced from 7x to 3x weekly
- Delhi to Washington (Dulles) is to be reduced from 5x to 3x weekly

In Europe, several high-demand routes will also see fewer flights:
- Delhi to London (Heathrow) is to be reduced from 24x to 22x weekly
- Bengaluru to London (Heathrow) to be reduced from 7x to 6x weekly
- Amritsar/Delhi to Birmingham to be reduced from 3x to 2x weekly
- Delhi to Paris to be reduced from 14x to 12x weekly
- Delhi to Milan to be reduced from 7x to 4x weekly
- Delhi to Copenhagen to be reduced from 5x to 3x weekly
- Delhi to Vienna to be reduced from 4x to 3x weekly
- Delhi to Amsterdam to be reduced from 7x to 5x weekly
In Australia, the following route adjustments have been made:
- Delhi to Melbourne to be reduced from daily to 5x weekly
- Delhi to Sydney to be reduced from daily to 5x weekly
Changes In Far East Connections
As part of the Air India flight reductions, East Asia routes have also been affected:
- Delhi to Tokyo (Haneda) is now 6x weekly instead of 7x
- Delhi to Seoul (Incheon) will operate 3x weekly from 21st June to 5th July, and 4x weekly from 6th to 15th July (suspended until 30th June)

As per Air India’s update, the airline is proactively reaching out to affected passengers to offer complimentary rescheduling, alternative flight arrangements, or full refunds. The revised schedules are now available on airindia.com, the Air India mobile app, and through customer service channels.
With these Air India flight reductions, the airline continues to prioritise passengers’ safety while aiming to restore full operations soon.
