All “Hail” Bengaluru As City Witnesses Hailstorms & Heavy Rains Over The Weekend

Bengalureans, have been reeling under scorching summer weather. With temperatures hitting even 35°C, heavy rains and hailstorms almost came in as a respite from the hot weather over the past few days. But the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) alerts that rainfall could continue over the next few days as well. Currently, some roads are waterlogged due to the rains. Twitteratis took to the microblogging site to share pictures and videos of the hailstorms and heavy rains in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru Witnesses Hailstorms & Heavy Rains During The Weekend

The Garden City, Bengaluru witnessed a sudden rain spell over the weekend. On Sunday, heavy rains lashed the city, uprooting trees and even damaging parked vehicles. Some parts of the city even witnessed the pitter-patter of not raindrops but hailstorms. The rainfall happens in torrents in the city. In no time Netizens took to social media to document their encounter with Bengaluru rains.

A Twitterati Prakash wrote that Bengaluru rains always surprises people. He comments that despite it being just 3 pm, the skies went dark and it started raining suddenly. Vijeth Balila tweeted that it wasn’t a scene from a disaster movie, but rather live scenes from Bengaluru amid hailstorms. Sunday was incidentally the nail-biting match between the Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans.

Netizens Share Pics & Videos

The match was delayed due to the heavy rains, people even worried if it would get cancelled. Anushka Sharma, who was in Bangalore for the match, shared a video from her window of the heavy rains lashing the city. Dr Deepak Krishnamurthy shared photos of the hailstorm lashing in his backyard. In one picture he even gave his followers a glimpse of his palm filled with icy stones.

On Saturday night, Uttarahalli recorded 33mm of rainfall while the rest of the city recorded 25mm of rainfall. Folks take note that parts of Karnataka will continue to witness rainfall.
