Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan, often referred to as the “Shahenshah” of Indian cinema, has been a dominant force in the film industry for over five decades. Known for his powerful baritone voice, towering presence, and unparalleled acting prowess, Bachchan has starred in over 200 films and has won numerous awards, including several National Film Awards and Filmfare Awards. For all the ardent fans of Amitabh Bachchan across the globe, especially those in the United States, there is an exciting surprise awaiting in New Jersey. 

Amitabh Bachchan’s Statue In New Jersey Is Now On Google Maps

Google Maps now officially recognises a life-size statue of the renowned actor as a tourist destination. Indian-American businessman Gopi Seth erected this statue outside his Edison residence in August 2022, and it has since gained popularity among tourists and Bachchan fans.

Situated approximately 35 kilometres south of Manhattan, the statue is accessible to the public every day and is housed in a glass case, as per CNBC TV 18 reports. Given his significant influence in the show, Bachchan is portrayed in the statue in his famous “Kaun Banega Crorepati” pose.

Amitabh Bachchan’s devoted fan, Gopi Seth,1 announced the wonderful news along with a video of the statue on X (formerly known as Twitter). “The statue of my idol, Shri Amitabh Bachchan, has become a popular tourist attraction in New Jersey. It’s my way of paying tribute to the legendary actor,” he wrote.

New Jersey’s Latest Tourist Attraction

According to CNBC TV 18, Seth invested over $75,000 (roughly Rs 60 lakh) in the project. He had the statue made in Rajasthan, India, before shipping it to the US. The installation of a statue in the United States posed considerable obstacles, but Seth’s unwavering admiration for Bachchan made the endeavour feasible. 

Since they first met in 1991 during Navaratri celebrations in New Jersey, Seth has been an ardent fan of the actor. He also organised fan clubs and started the website “Big B Extended Family,” which shares its database with the actor, according to CNBC TV 18.

Amitabh Bachchan himself is aware of the statue and, in his humble manner, has remarked that he doesn’t deserve such a tribute. Nonetheless, for fans of the iconic actor, this statue in New Jersey serves as a fitting homage to his enduring legacy and a must-visit attraction.
