Anand Mahindra Recommends Visiting Kokankada

Anand Mahindra took to this X handle to talk about Kokankada, a hidden gem in India, nestled 170 km from Mumbai and 160 km from Pune. Safe to say, we are already mesmerised by the images he shared. In the pictures, Kokankada looks picture-perfect, with huge cliffs and mountains all around.

All About This Hidden Gem And What To Expect

Kokankada is located in the Harishchandragad Fort region of Ahmednagar district in Maharashtra. It is part of the beautiful Sahyadri range,  and its name literally means “Konkan cliff”, Mahindra shared in his X post. Standing around 3,500 feet above sea level, this spot offers some of the most stunning views in Maharashtra.

The Kokankada–Harishchandragad via Kedareshwar trail is one of the most exciting and challenging treks in the Western Ghats. The huge cliff has a curved shape, which creates rare natural sights like vertical cloudbursts and circular rainbows, also known as “Brocken Ghosts.” During monsoon, the whole place comes alive with mist, wildflowers, waterfalls, and greenery everywhere — making it a paradise for nature lovers and trekkers.

Anand Mahindra admired Kokankada’s breathtaking beauty but also wondered if the spot was safe for visitors. He suggested that while its natural charm should remain untouched, the area could benefit from eco-friendly facilities like defined trekking trails, handrails, and solar-lit paths to ensure safety, especially during the foggy and misty monsoon season.
