“Apart From Dinner, We Played Holi,” Man Slams Telangana Restaurant For Using Artificial Colour In Food

Recently the Karnataka Health Department banned the use of artificial colours in vegetarian food, chicken kebabs and fish sold across the state. This ban was imposed after the health department tested a few food samples and found unsafe levels of artificial colours in them. And now a man slammed a restaurant in Telangana for serving food filled with artificial colour. Here’s more to it.

Man Slams Uday Cafe In Telangana For Serving Chicken Filled With Artificial Colour

An X user, Vijay Gopal took to the microblogging site to share his unpleasant dining experience at a restaurant in Telangana. Vijay shared a picture of a plate of what looks like a chicken appetiser which was red in colour. The next picture shows the signboard of the restaurant — Uday Cafe— which serves Indian, Tandoori and Chinese cuisines with both vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes.

He also lifted his hand in front of the camera to show his followers the food colouring stain and refused to leave despite washing his hands after the meal. Tagging the handles of the Commissioner of Food Safety, Telangana and Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Vijay writes that he visited this restaurant at Abids, a major commercial centre, for dinner on Saturday.

“Apart from dinner, we played Holi,” says the X user taking a dig at the food colouring used in the preparation of the chicken dish. He asked when will the state penalise fines on such establishments for such deeds. Moreover, throwing away food colouring is not a deterrent, he stated. He ended the post, by asking the authorities to save people.

His post garnered 19,000 views and many comments. Netizens took to the comments section to rant about the similar plight they faced at many other restaurants. @BandaruShekhar sarcastically suggested Vijay try Santosh Dhaba where they add “curry in colour”.

@Azeem1687 points out that every other restaurant he visits uses harmful colours in food. He called upon authorities to contain the limits of food colouring used in India. And demanded strict implementation of rules. Another person recommended skipping dining out altogether. Instead, the X user recommends people prepare food at home to stay healthy.

@TeluguMaverick called the food “disgusting” at the restaurant. And remembered eating Palak Paneer, Roti and Fried rice, which tasted awful.

Well, have you dined out only to be disappointed on being served dishes filled with artificial colours?
