Apple Pay Finally Arrives In India

Now, iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch users can use Apple Pay in India. As per NDTV report, it launched in India on September 30, Wednesday.

How To Make Payment With Apple Pay?

Using this payment method is absolutely simple. When you arrive at a store and are about to pay, just hold your iPhone or other Apple device close to a contactless payment terminal. You can then authenticate the payment with Face ID, Touch ID or your device passcode, if needed. There’s no need for a PIN or OTP.

Which Cardholders Can Use Apple Pay For Now?

At present, only Axis Bank-issued Visa and Mastercard credit cards in India are accepted on Apple Pay. You can simply add an eligible card to the app, and that’s it; you’re all set to make payments. More banks and cards could be supported in the future.

Is Apple Pay Safe To Use?

If you think adding your card details to Apple Pay can be dangerous, then you need to think again. Apple says it does not store your actual card number on your device or its servers. It also does not share your card details with merchants.

Apple Pay uses a unique Device Account Number that stays encrypted and securely stored on your device. According to Moneycontrol report,  Mastercard also uses tokenisation to add another layer of protection during payments. Axis Bank CEO Amitabh Chaudhry said the focus is on making digital payments simple, intuitive and secure.
