Daily commuters, students, employees going to offices, and more people faced transportation issues on Friday as the strike has been called in most places of the state. There were no buses, app-based cab services, or taxis operating on the streets. All these commercial and public modes of transportation did not ply because of the ongoing transport strike.

A joint forum of transporters’ unions came together to conduct this strike. The primary reason behind the transporters’ platform calling a 48-hour strike is their protest against a new law. They are objecting to the new penal law about hit-and-run cases. Ramen Das is the the convenor of Assam Motor Worker Associations’ Joint Platform. He recently talked about this new penal law and shared the forum’s opinions on it.

Calling the law anti-drivers and against owners of vehicles, the Assam Motor Worker Associations’ Joint Platform’s convenor stated that the transport strike of commercial and public transportation modes will start on Friday. The strike began today at 5 AM. The joint platform of transporters’ unions called this strike till 5 AM on Sunday.
