In a way, a restaurant visited by legends is legendary! And Vidyarthi Bhavan is no less than a legendary spot in Namma Bengaluru. The iconic establishment has served renowned biggies worldwide, from Infosys honcho Narayana Murthy to former UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak to Starbucks co-founder Zev Siegl. To add to their already prominent clientele, recently, badminton legend Prakash Padukone and his wife Ujjala Padukone were spotted at Vidyarthi Bhavan.
Prakash Padukone & Ujjala Padukone Visit Vidyarthi Bhavan In Bengaluru
On August 29, Vidyarthi Bhavan’s official X handle announced the visit of India’s former badminton legend and Olympian Lakshya Sen’s coach Prakash Padukone and his wife Ujjala Padukone. Deepika Padukone’s parents living in Bengaluru visited the heritage restaurant at Gandhi Bazaar, Basvanagudi for delicious South Indian tiffin.

A video posted by the restaurant shows the couple enjoying plates of masala dosas with chutney. Later, the Padukones sportingly stand next to a server expertly balancing plates of dosas in his hands. After the meal, Prakash sits down to write his feedback on the guest journal as Ujjala looks on. The couple also pose for a picture outside the restaurant against a wall highlighting Bengaluru’s cultural motifs.
Netizens Glad He Wasn’t Addressed As “Deepika’s Father”
In the caption, team Vidyarthi Bhavan mentioned that they were happy to host the legendary badminton star at their restaurant last evening. The video amassed over 85,000 views and hordes of comments. Some Netizens lauded the restaurant for addressing Prakash Padukone as a “badminton legend” rather than “Deepika Padukone’s father”. Others lauded the couple for their humility.
It is so heartening to see that he has been identified as he himself, the “legendary Prakash Padukone” and not by his daughter’s name ( which is often seen everywhere) .

But there were some commentators who used the opportunity to relay to the restaurant its deteriorating quality of food. One person pointed out that the dosas like crispness apart from being smaller in size. Another person speculated that the staff have started using lower quality ingredients.
Qualityof food has drastically come down. Not worth of visiting

Genuine feedback: Visited specifically to have Dosa as I was craving for it since 2 years (last visited after lockdown). dosa is no longer same, maybe you are using new ingredients? It was mildly bitter, no majaa at all. Was very disappointed (ordered twice just to confirm). pic.twitter.com/jCPvVSMKVN
