Incessant rains in Bangalore have caused waterlogging in various parts of the city. Poor infrastructure has led to floods on the road, traffic jams and disruptions in the life of Bangaloreans. In fact, a study conducted by MoveInSync revealed that due to rains in the city,  travel time to work has increased by 62 per cent. And now, IT companies in Bangalore lost ₹225 crores in one day as employees were stuck in traffic.

As per a Hindustan Times report, Bangalore’s IT companies faced a massive loss of ₹225 crores on August 30. This is because employees of IT firms were stuck in Bangalore traffic for over 5 hours. Poor road infrastructure has caused waterlogging where the roads are flooded. This has posed a severe inconvenience for employees travelling to work. The Outer Ring Road Companies Association wrote to Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai drawing his attention to the poor infrastructure and its impending result on work.

Poor Infrastructure Issue Relayed To Karnataka CM

According to the letter sent to Karanataka CM, over half a million employees travel on the Outer Ring Road, from Krishnarajapuram to the Central Silk Board area. The 17km stretch offers direct and indirect employment to over a million people. Despite this, there is no focus on developing the infrastructure of the particular region. The letter further stated that the collapse of Bangalore’s infrastructure due to rains is now a matter of global concern.
