Bangalore has a flourishing queer scene and this queer film festival is a testament to that. Featuring a host of queer content, the Bangalore Queer Film Festival is not just for movie screenings, it is a space where queer people can safely be themselves and meet and interact with other like-minded queer individuals. If you’re in Bangalore and are looking for a queer event, here it is! Head on down there for some exquisite queer cinema.

Bangalore Queer Film Festival: All You Need To Know

This particular event will be the 13th edition of this annual festival. It began back in the year 2009. Since then, it has been a community-funded event which is run collectively, according to their website. Entry to the event is free of charge too in order to make queer films, and the space itself, more inclusive.

This event will take place on the 4th, 5th and 6th of August. The venue for its inaugural day will be the Alliance Francaise de Bangalore in Vasanth Nagar. The venue for the following two days will be the Goethe-Institut/Max Mueller Bhavan in Indiranagar.

Those who want to help out can also volunteer for the event. Details about the same are mentioned on their website as well as on their Instagram. It is one of the most anticipated queer events in the city and the footfalls it receives is around 1,000 people.

First Tibetan & Burmese Films Featured At The Festival

Like every year, this year, too has a lot of unique and interesting films being featured in the festival. This particular According to an article recently published by The New Indian Express, this year’s festival will feature its first Tibetan film.

Titled “The Quiet Solace Of Sunset,” this short film is directed by Tenzin Cheodon. It features both English and Tibetan language and is about friendship and discovering one’s sexuality. The festival will also feature its first film from Myanmar. This one is titled Two Souls and is directed by Myat Noe.
