Bangalore’s 98-Year-Old Iconic Restaurant MTR Opens Outlet In London

London is famous for its Chicken Tikka Masala, Butter Chicken, Malai Kofta and Kebabs. While there are ample choices for authentic North Indian food, what about the good ol’ dosas and idlis? Well, Bangalore’s 98-year-old iconic restaurant Mavalli Tiffin Room (MTR) makes a debut in London. Nestled in the neighbourhood of Harrow, MTR aims to serve authentic Karnataka food and stand out amongst the crowd of South Indian restaurants.

MTR Makes Debut In London To Serve Authentic Karnataka Food

Walk into MTR in London and you’d find the same homely, welcoming ambience that you’d find in all restaurants of MTR across Bangalore and the world. The MTR storyboard, history boards, signature MTR 1924 signage, no-nonsense granite tables and a red wall, will instantly transport patrons to Karnataka. Chefs at the restaurant were sent to Bangalore for training.  The restaurant’s kitchen is equipped with a warm room to ferment the batter perfectly for idlis and dosas, as London doesn’t have a warm climate.

MTR Menu Features Bisi Bele Baath, Rava Idli, Khaara Baath & More

According to the Deccan Herald report, the food at MTR will not be adjusted to cater to Londoner’s tastes, after all, MTR doesn’t serve spicy food. And any further reduction in spices will take away from its authenticity. London’s MTR menu features signature dishes like their invention, rava idli with saagu, khaara bath, veg pulao, veg thali and an array of dosas. So, folks in London can head to MTR for a taste of authentic South Indian food that takes you on a journey across Karnataka. MTR also has outlets in Singapore, Dubai and Malaysia apart from the ones in Bangalore. Meanwhile, head to MTR’s signature restaurant in Lalbagh and enjoy filter kaapi and dosas.
