The wait is over. Bangalore is all set to welcome the KR Puram – Whitefield metro line. So, Bangaloreans, who otherwise deemed travel to and from Whitefield close to a nightmare, can finally sigh in relief. So, with a faster, hassle-free and pocket-friendly mode of travel to Whitefield, here’s what you need to know about the KR Puram – Whitefield metro line.

When Will Bangalore’s KR Puram-Whitefield Metro Line Open?

Here one, here all, PM Modi shall inaugurate Bangalore’s much-awaited KR Puram – Whitefield metro line on March 25. From the very next day, March 26 onwards, the metro line will begin operations for the public. With a distance of 13km between the two destinations, seven trains will run on the lines at a frequency of 10 to 12 minutes.

Also, Bangalore Metro Rail Company Ltd (BMRCL) is currently opening only the initial phase of the KR Puram – Whitefield metro line. The remaining portion from KR Puram to Baiyappanahalli ( the purple metro line) will be inaugurated only in the middle of the year. The extended metro line in total is 15 km long. This new line is part of Namma Metro’s phase II project. This includes the expansion of the purple line from Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield.

Commute Between These 2 Destinations To Take Just 24 Min

Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan took to Twitter to announce that commute between KR Puram to Whitefield will take just 24 minutes by metro instead of 1 hour. Moreover, he says it shall be easier for passengers to commute as they can hitch trains every 10 to 12 minutes. The KR Puram- Whitefield metro line of 13.2 km will have 12 metro stations as stops.

Also, according to a report by Times Now, BMRCL spends ₹4500 crores to construct the KR Puram-Whitefield metro line. A representative from BMRCL revealed to Times Now that the government body spend ₹5000 crores to build the extended metro line from Baiyappanahalli to Whitefield as part of Namma Metro’s phase II project.
