Nagpur is the ‘Orange City of India’ and the ‘Tiger Capital of India’. It is known for hosting the ‘Zero Mile Marker’ indicating the geographical centre of the country. And not to forget its significance in the Hindu epic of Ramayana. Besides being the second greenest city, this place now holds three more titles — and that too, some of the most prestigious ones in Asia. The Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has tweeted about the Nagpur Metro yrain being awarded the Asia Book Of Records certificate, and here’s everything you need to know about it.

Nagpur Metro Train Awarded The Asia Book Of Records Certificate!

Like every Indian city, Nagpur was expanding and marking its place in the country by offering some of the best and essential services. And where there is expansion and development, the transit of the place needs to be apt! Therefore, to provide a better and more cost-friendly means of transport and commuting, the authorities introduced a rapid transit system called Nagpur Metro.

Recently, the metro has been awarded Asia Book of Records certificates for three different categories. And the Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra was the one to award the certificate and citation for this record. In the tweet, he has written that this metro has already etched Nagpur’s name in the Guinness World Records. But now, it has been felicitated with the Asia Book Of Records as well! The metro has received acknowledgement and an award for being the longest length of Metro Rail Corridor construction in the shortest period, the first solar PV System in a Metro Rail project, integrated consumption and serviced single span double decker steel. He further expressed that he is proud of the achievement and the team.

The Present Network

Presently, two metro lines are functioning in the city — one is the Orange line and the other is the Aqua line. The Orange line represents the North-South corridor and originates from Automotive Square. The Aqua line originates from Prajapati Nagar and covers Nagpur Railway Station, Sitaburdi, Dharmpeth College and Lad Square.
