The fire in Dhaka began at a restaurant on the first floor of the building and it took almost three hours for the firefighters to rescue and put off the fire.

In a tragic turn of events, a massive fire broke out in a seven-storey building in Dhaka. It ended up taking the lives of 44 individuals, leaving many severely injured, and around 22 in the emergency ward of the hospital. The building was actually a popular mall in Dhaka’s Bailey Road. It is reported that the fire started at a restaurant on the first floor of the mall. It quickly turned into a ferocious fire that ended up causing massive destruction.

Fire Breaks Out In 7-Storey Building In Dhaka, Kills 44 Individuals

On Thursday night, around 9:50 local time, a fire ignited in the ‘Kacchi Bhai’ restaurant on the first floor of Green Cosy Cottage, Dhaka. The fire quickly spread to the entire building and ended up trapping many people. As per the latest reports, the fire incident killed 44 individuals and left around 22 severely injured in its wake.

As per Bangladesh’s Health Minister, Samanta Lal Sen, 33 fatalities were recorded at Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Furthermore, around 10 more were reported at the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. In the latest reports, the Inspector General of Police confirmed one more death at the Central Police Hospital. According to the firefighters at the scene, most victims of this fire incident succumbed to injuries sustained from jumping off the building or from burns and suffocation.

Not Much Known About How The Fire Started

According to local news channels in Dhaka, many people trapped on the top floors tried to descend the blazed building through pipes. Sadly most of them couldn’t survive the fire. The firefighters in Dhaka were able to put off the fire in around 3 hours. They were also able to successfully save 75 people. However, the authorities are still not able to identify what ignited this massive fire in Dhaka. The investigation for the same is underway right now.
