Biren Pal and his son Subir Pal of West Bengal had won the President’s Awards in 1982 and 1991 respectively for their marvellous sculptures. And Subir Pal’s daughter Saheli Pal is aptly carrying forward the family legacy. In 2018, Saheli had created a world record by making the smallest clay sculpture of the face of Goddess Durga. Recently, the 22-year old has created an image of the Taj Mahal with over 3 lakh matchsticks. Meanwhile, Taj Mahal has barred couples from clicking photos with lovey-dovey poses in the monument premises.
World Record Holder Saheli Pal Creates Taj Mahal With Over 3 Lakh Matchsticks
Saheli Pal is a student of English MA at the Calcutta University. She has recently created a 6 feet by 4 feet image of the Taj Mahal using more than 3 lakh matchsticks. She had started working on the same in the middle of August after getting the guidelines from the Guinness World Records authorities. Saheli completed her artwork on September 30. Saheli hails from Krishnanagar’s Ghurni locality in West Bengal and had created a world record by making the world’s smallest Durga face sculpture. Now, she is striving to create a record all over again. A video of her matchstick carved Taj Mahal artwork has been made to be sent to the Guinness World Records. Also, India’s 2018 tiger census has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the world’s largest-ever camera-trap wildlife survey.

Saheli Aims To Break The Record Of Iran’s Meysam Rahmani
Saheli aims to break the Guinness World Record of Iran’s Meysam Rahmani. In 2013, Rahmani had made a UNESCO logo with 1,36,951 matchsticks. According to an Indian Express Report, Saheli said, “I want to carry forward the legacy of my father and grandfather.” As per another PTI report, the young artist has stated, “I have used matchsticks of two colours to depict Taj Mahal at night.”
