India has made strides in a number of areas, including travel and transportation. India’s transport system is incredibly effective and extensive, whether it is through Indian Railways or metro rails in different Indian cities. In major metropolitan areas, the metro has been one of the most convenient modes of transit. For the people of India, the expansion and development of the metro system is a really good thing. One such development can soon be seen in Bengaluru as well. As part of the Namma Metro Phase 3 extension project, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) intends to build a double-decker metro line.
Namma Metro’s Double-Decker Metro Line Plan
After construction of the double-decker flyover between Ragigudda and Silk Board is finished, BMRCL or Namma Metro plans to start construction on a new line that will be developed in phases. The goal of this new route is to strengthen the city’s main corridors. In an effort to improve connectivity and lessen traffic in Bengaluru, BMRCL has started the bidding process for the design of Phase 3 metro infrastructure, which will include building double-decker flyovers along three important corridors, as reported by OneIndia.

Along with a major route from Hosahalli to Kadabagere and a significant segment from JP Nagar 4th Stage to Kempapura, the expansion plan also calls for double-decker elevated pathways with metro stations, ramps, and road infrastructure connecting Summanahalli Cross to Kadabagere and P Nagar Station to the Nagarabhavi BDA Complex.
BMRCL has separated the tendering procedure into three stages in order to improve construction and design. The project would improve accessibility to a range of transport options by constructing a depot, skywalk, and multi-modal transport hub close to Peenya and Summanahalli.
BMRCL’s Phase 3 Updates
BMRCL was given permission to extend Bengaluru’s metro network in August after the central government approved Phase 3. The central metro line will be built with funding provided by the central government. The state government will, however, pay for the double-decker flyovers.
A major turning point in the city’s transport demands has been reached as BMRCL has started the land purchase process for the third phase of Bengaluru’s metro extension, purchasing about 299 properties along potential lines, as reported by OneIndia. The area of the third phase spans 44.65 kilometres.
