No! We aren’t kidding you. As of December 2017, Bengaluru will get a new heli-taxi service from the airport to the city.
What Is It?
In what could be a revolutionary new concept in India, the country will get its first chopper taxi service from the Kempegowda International Airport to the city. Bengaluru is expected to make 90 helipads operational again. If you’ve ever been stuck in the traffuck (that wasn’t a spelling mistake) of Bengaluru then you know that all you need to do is look up. Not for divine intervention but for the new heli-taxi service.
Bengaluru International Airport Ltd. (BIAL) is working with Kerala based helicopter service provider Thumby Aviation to make this reality. Each ride is expected to take about 15 minutes as opposed to the 150 minutes it usually takes! The service will begin with only one six-seater Bell 407 chopper, Depending on the response, it is expected to expand to Whitefield and the HAL airport.
Commencement Date: December 2017
Price: The government says it will cost the same as an AC taxi to the city
