The festival will begin on February 29 and will go on till March 7. This prestigious festival will see the presence of many talented filmmakers, national and international actors, and film lovers from all over the country. Kickstarting on February 29, 2024, the 15th edition of the Bengaluru International Film Festival (BIFFES) will be every film lover’s paradise. The grand inauguration of the film festival will be held at the grand steps of Vidhana Soudha, followed by an amazing closing ceremony at its Banquet Hall on March 7, 2024.

Organised by the Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy with the Government of Karnataka, this film festival provides a stage to celebrate literature, fine arts, and cinema in the state. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah inaugurated the logo of the 15th BIFFES in Bengaluru on January 19, officially flagging off this cinema celebration.

As per the schedule shared for the festival so far, the regular film screenings will begin on March 1, 2024. The screenings will take place at 11 screens spread across PVR Cinemas in the city. The festival will screen nearly 200 films from about 50 countries, featuring a wide range of genres.

Just like previous years, this edition of BIFFES will see competitive sections for the Asian, Indian, and Kannada cinema. These competitions include the Asian Cinema Competition, Indian Cinema Competition (Chitra Bharati), Kannada Cinema Competition, Contemporary Cinema of the World, and Kannada Cinema of Popular Entertainment – to name a few. The winners of these competitions will be rewarded with cash prizes during the closing ceremony of the film festival.

That’s not it, there will also be various sessions of academic interactions for filmmakers and students. This will include seminars, workshops, and masterclasses that will benefit filmmaking practitioners.
