Previously, there were several road and rail transportation options to travel between Bengaluru and Madurai. These routes are still in operation and carry passengers to their destinations. However, the commencement of Vande Bharat Express connecting these two cities helps to decrease the overall travel duration and also provides convenient travel experiences to everyone onboard.
Passengers cover a distance of about 574 km to travel between Madurai and Bengaluru on this new Vande Bharat Express with eight coaches. The semi-high-speed train service operated by the Indian Railways takes around 7 hours and 45 minutes to complete the journey. This duration is for the train running at an average speed of 74 km/h.

- Bengaluru-Madurai Vande Bharat Express can accommodate 1,128 passengers each time.
- Services are operational from Wednesday to Monday. The new express train does not run on Tuesdays.
- The trip from Madurai begins at 5:15 AM and reaches Bengaluru Cantonment at 1 PM.
- Vande Bharat Express starts the journey from Bengaluru Cantonment at 1:30 PM. It brings passengers to Madurai at 9:45 PM.

The train halts at 6 stoppages while travelling between Madurai and Bengaluru. The stoppages are:
- Dindigul Junction
- Tiruchchirappalli Junction
- Karur Junction
- Namakkal
- Salem Junction
- Krishnarajapuram
According to a report by DNA India, each chair car ticket costs ₹1,575 to travel to Bengaluru from Madurai. The trip charges ₹2,865 for an executive class ticket.
For travelling to Madurai from Bengaluru, a chair car ticket costs ₹1,740. The fare for the executive class is ₹3,060.
