The countdown for 2020 has begun. And your New Year even plans are in full swing too. But Bangaloreans, if you’re worrying about yur commute after those insane New Year house parties, then here’s something that will make you sigh in relief. Bangalore Metro will be open till 2 am on New Year’s Eve as confirmed by Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL). Officials have also stated that security measures will be taken at all metro stations across the city, the good part is that intoxicated passengers will not be restricted from boarding trains. Breath analyser tests will not be conducted on metro users too.

If you’re looking forward to partying in style this New Year, then there will be nothing stopping you. Yes, not even the concerns commute back home. Bengaluru Metro will be open till 2 am on New Year’s Eve. And that’s not all, inebriated passengers will not be stopped from boarding trains, coupled with the advantage of breath analysers not being used on metro users. However, if anyone is found causing trouble to passengers, they will be restricted from using metro services.

A BMRCL official stated to a reputed news agency that if people create nuisance they will be removed from the metro station. Women can use the separate coach in a six coach metro, and they can make full use of this facility. Every year, celebrations at Bengaluru’s MG Road and Brigade Road attract thousands of people across the city. And during this New Year Eve, these two prominent roads are closed for traffic and they are turned into pedestrian zones in the account of the grand celebrations.

A number of safety measures have been introduced in Bangalore thanks to this year’s festivities. CCTV cameras, watchtowers, LED screens and drones are introduced in specific areas. Tents will be set up housing two or three police officers including a woman police officer, will be present, so the public can report any case of crime or harassment easily. Bengaluru’s Central Business District will be having these tents during New Year’s Eve. And this especially is done to protect women in the city, so they can celebrate without any hesitations. Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao appeared live on social media and informed that police officers including DCPs will be going on rounds during New Year’s Eve to monitor the streets for misbehavior.
