Bengalureans, if you made your Sunday plans already, especially if it included early morning metro travel, then you probably altered your plans slightly. Namma Metro temporarily suspended its purple line services on certain routes today. Read on to know why this is the case.

As per a report by India.com, Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) made an official announcement that Namma Metro Purple Line services were temporarily suspended today, i.e. Sunday, February 11, 2024. This is because BMRCL is conducting maintenance work on certain routes which has partially disrupted the metro services. Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited has specified the timings for the partial suspension and also stated the list of stations that will not be functional for that period.

The official update states that BMRCL will be carrying out maintenance work on the Namma Metro Purple Line between MG Road and Trinity Metro Stations on Sunday, February 11, 2024. Commercial operations between MG Road and Indiranagar Metro Stations will be partially suspended from 7 am to 9 am to ensure the maintenance work goes about smoothly.

Green Line Metro Services Phase 2 Will Open To The Public In 2025

While BMRCL conducted the maintenance work between MG Road and Challaghatta and Indiranagar and Whitefield (Kadugodi), the metro stations started operating from 7 am onwards. The operations resumed from 9 am onwards on these routes. When it comes to Namma Metro Green Line Services, the lines ran as usual with no disruption, from 7 am onwards.

On February 6, Thursday, Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar stated that Namma Metro Phase 2 operations will be operational to the public by 2025. Talking about the new update, he stated that there are 9 drilling tunnels machines in operations. Out of which 7 are nearing completion. Furthermore, he stated that 75 per cent of the work in 12 metro stations is almost complete. The major interchange stations on this route are Cantonment, MG Road, Jayadeva Hospital and Nagavara. He also threw light on the government’s intention to create tunnel roads in Bangalore.
